Alumni Highlights: September 8-14

The best of the best in this week of college football performances of Massillon Tiger alumni.

NCAA DI

Jayden Ballard, Wide Receiver, Wisconsin

The Badgers took on the Crimson Tide of Alabama this weekend. It took a while for Wisconsin to get Ballard involved, but when they did throw to him he made a big play. Ballard’s 1 reception was a 41-yard touchdown, putting him at 141 yards receiving this season. He led the Badgers in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns on the day.

Magnus Haines, Punter, Ohio University

Ohio took on the tall task of playing Ohio State last weekend. The Bobcats were held to 9 points, which gave punter Magnus Haines plenty of opportunities to kick. He punted 7 times for 311 yards, placing 1 of his kicks inside the 20. A pair of his punts went for 50+ yards, with his long being 54.

Dorian Pringle, Linebacker, Bowling Green

Dorian Pringle came into Saturday night’s game as the only player in the nation with 12+ solo tackles and 4+ tackles-for-loss. He was also 21st in the nation in overall tackles and 10th in TFLs. He kept the excellent plays coming on Saturday versus Liberty. Pringle intercepted a pass, recovered a fumble, forced a fumble, was involved in creating a 3rd fumble, picked up 2 tackles-for-loss, and had 7 tackles.

NCAA DII

Willtrell Hartson, Running Back, Ashland

Wiltrell Hartson led the Eagles in rushing versus the University of Indianapolis. Hartson picked up 63 yards on 14 carries. He also had 3 receptions for 11 yards.

Daone Owens, Quarterback, Slippery Rock

DaOne Owens stepped in at quarterback late in the game for the #4 team in DII–Slippery Rock. It was his first extensive period with the 1st string, who trailed by 2 scores in the 4th quarter. Owens led a tremendous comeback, leading his team down the field and scoring the game-tying touchdown with 36 seconds left. He then picked up a huge gain in overtime to set up the game-winning score. Owens went 5-8 in the air for 56 yards. He picked up 46 yards and a touchdown on the ground in 4 running plays.

NCAA DIII

Nolan Hendricks, Kicker/Punter, College of Wooster

Nolan Hendricks was once again solid for the Scots in his second career start. He was 4-4 on PATs, kicked off 5 times, and punted 5 times for 178 yards (35.6 avg). A pair of his punts were inside the 20 and his long was 46.
