The Massillon 8th graders took down McKinley 20-0 last night (read more about that game here)– the 7th graders administered a beatdown on the Bulldogs in their game with a 32-6 victory.

1st Half

Jaxon Smith takes one all the way

Massillon ran all over the Bulldogs on Thursday night. Running back Jaxon Smith started the game off with a pair of 1st down runs. Quarterback Peyton Mattox weaved his way through for another 1st. Smith capped the drive off with a 17-yard score. He punched in the 2pt conversion to put the Tigers up 8-0. McKinley went nowhere on their drive– Lance Meismer almost intercepted a pass and his pass breakup helped force a punt. The Tigers went to the run game with Maurice Gamble to pick up a 1st. Peyton Mattox tossed a 31-yard touchdown pass to a wide-open Gamble– conversion failed but the Tigers led 14-0. Jayden Long picked off a pass for Massillon and gave the Tigers the ball back at the end of the 1st quarter. The Tigers used a trio of ball carriers on their drive– Smith and Mattox picked up 1st downs and D’Mone Robinson took it in from 12 yards out for a touchdown. Kicker Bryson Ramsey’s extra point was blocked but the Tigers had a 20-0 lead. McKinley once again turned the ball over as an attempted toss-sweep was blown up in the backfield by Tommy Keller– he knocked the ball loose and Massillon recovered. Peyton Mattox took the snap and took the ball in from 9 yards out to increase Massillon’s lead to 26-0 (the extra point was snuffed out after a mishandled snap). McKinley picked up one 1st down on their drive but a second conversion attempt failed, giving Massillon the ball in good field position. A pair of 1st down runs from Smith set Massillon up near the goal line and Mattox took it into the end zone once again from several yards out to make it 32-0 Tigers. The 2pt conversion was stopped. McKinley ran out of time on their drive and took the game into the half.
