
Massillon traveled to Crenshaw Middle School in Canton to take on their rival, the Canton McKinley Bulldogs. The Tigers used a bruising defense and a strong run game to plow over McKinley in a 20-0 win.
1st Half

McKinley took the ball first to begin Wednesday evening’s game. Three runs went nowhere and the Bulldogs punted. Massillon hammered the Bulldogs in the run game; it started early with a Donnie McMullen 42-yard run down the sideline for a score. McMullen punched it in for 2 and the Tigers took an 8-0 lead. Erian McCray smashed the Bulldogs in the backfield on a sack and a tackled the punter on a dropped snap. The Tigers took over on downs; McMullen converted a 4th down to set the Tigers up in good field position going into the 2nd quarter. Anthony Pierce-Taylor almost took a run in for a touchdown; Donnie McMullen finished the drive off with a 3rd-and-goal touchdown run. McKinley converted on 4th down during the following drive but Massillon shut down a 4th-and-goal run to get the ball back. They picked up a 1st down and ran the clock out in the half. The score: Massillon 14 -McKinley 0.
2nd Half

Donnie McMullen put the game away early in the 3rd quarter. He left at least three defenders in the dust as he took a 50-yard run to the house. Massillon’s defense was given a 20-0 lead and controlled the rest of the game. They shut down the Bulldogs and forced an incomplete pass on 4th down. Following a punt on offense, the Tiger D once again went to work. A pair of sacks and a tackle-for-loss on the drive pushed McKinley back– the second sack gave the Tigers the ball back. Massillon picked up a 1st down and took a knee to end the ballgame. The final: Massillon 20 – McKinley 0.
