1st Half

St. Edward started the game off with a big run. After moving the ball into Massillon territory, they were moved backwards by a holding penalty– a pick by Massillon’s Jacoby Boykin ended the threat. Unfortunately for the Tigers, they were backed up near their own goal line. A couple of plays into the drive, ball was fumbled into the end zone and recovered by St. Ed’s for a score. Ed’s pushed the Tigers back and forced a punt on the next drive. A big gain on a screen pass took the game to the 2nd quarter. One of the Eagles’ running backs found the edge and took the ball in for another touchdown. Massillon picked up a couple of 1st downs on the following drive but an incomplete pass on 4th down led to a turnover on downs. The Eagles went up top on a touchdown pass, and following an interception they went up top once again to make the score 28-0.

2nd Half

The 2nd half was over quickly due to a running clock. The Tigers went 3-and-out on their opening drive and had their punt blocked. Ed’s quarterback found a tight end wide open over the middle for a score. A fake punt by the Tigers on the following drive fell short of the marker– Ed’s scored a 4th-down touchdown on a drive that went into the 4th quarter to take a 42-0 lead. Massillon threw an interception and the clock ran out. The final: Massillon 0 – St. Ed’s 42.
